Elk Grove Families & Residents Urge City to Support Hmong School

720x540.jpeg.10f931b50c3d4cc9b67d690608007015.largeOn Wednesday night, HIP joined with Elk Grove students, parents and residents to urge the Elk Grove City Council to endorse city staff's recommendation of offer the Hmong Txuj Ci School a $7,000 Community Service Grant. As Elk Grove resident and HIP organizer Stephanie Yang described while reflecting on her experiences growing up in Elk Grove,

"Your investment goes beyond this program. You are investing in our community’s diversity. You are investing in our city’s youth. You are investing in Elk Grove’s future."

In addition to urging the Council to endorse the staff's recommendation, community members expressed their appreciation for the staff's dedication to serving Elk Grove with Valentine's Day Cards.

While last night's mobilization was an important milestone, the vote is only preliminary and will require further review by staff and each of the Council members. A final vote will occur in May when the City approves its fiscal budget.
