HIP seeks to hire a team of 10-12 temporary Outreach Specialist to participate in civic engagement activities in Sacramento. Our goal is to increase the number of registered voters in the Sacramento Region, as well as increase civic participation of low-income Southeast Asian communities in California.
This is a contracted position with flexible work hours, no more than 75 hours, starting September 1, 2016 and ending October 30, 2016. Applicants must be able to work some weekends.
PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Register a minimum of 100 new voters.
Engage with community members in an effort to register them to become active voters.
Data entry of results.
Door-to-door outreach, phone bank outreach, and site-based outreach.
Complete accurate daily reports.
Analyze and reflect on voter registration trends and best practices.
Commitment to the mission and principles of HIP and to social justice.
Fluent in English, bilingual/biliterate in an Southeast Asian language preferred.
Strong motivation and adaptability, including ability to work under pressure and with deadlines.
Basic computer skills, ability to complete web forms.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Experience working in Southeast Asian immigrant communities
Able to give and receive constructive feedback
Multilingual (Southeast Asian language) applicants preferred
